Today

The sky was blue
A blue I'd never seen before
And smudged with creamy clouds

The air was sweet
I smelled spring coming
And saw it in the budding trees

The sunlight was rich
Richer than the purest gold
Gently pushing away the last wisps of winter

The breeze was playful
Like a teasing puppy
Chasing me across the yard and up the hill

The mountains were regal
Silhouetted against the sky
And bathed in purple light

The sunset was breathtaking
All shades of fiery orange
Slowly cooling into a velvet dusk

My heart was light
Hopeful. Peaceful. Whole.
And I drank this in, and thanked the Lord.

Lately I've also played the muse ...Perhaps you'll indulge something of a reprise?

'Moonshine'

When all the jaded din of day
Which gentle evening does allay,
And bright boldness that is light,
Flees from shades of darkling might;

Free then eager eyes to swoon,
To gaze upon the solemn moon.
See her wrest her land-locked bars,
See her crest her court of stars,

Like a matron over maidens fair,
Like a queen bedecked beyond compare.
But lest your wonder wax too great,
Let taming truth with it conflate.

For also on this newborn night,
Your star of glory shines so bright.
But now that moonrise hour looms,
And thus your moonstruck musing dooms.
